Leh Ladakh - The Mecca of Adventure Enthusiasts in India!

Leh
Leh Ladakh has fascinated many a young heart for years. With a mystic charm of a distant highlands and cut off from civilization for major part of the year Leh has retained its mystery about it even today.

A high altitude desert Leh is the land of Buddhists monks and monasteries, valleys and high mountains, tranquil lakes and pastures and of course dizzying heights, rarefied air and brutally cold temperatures all adding to the beauty of this beautiful destination.

Leh
Earlier this region was known as Ladakh and even today Leh and Ladakh is used synonymously however Ladakh was an erstwhile kingdom which was divided into Leh and Kargil when the district boundaries where demarcated sometime back.

Leh with an area of just 45652 Sqs Kms most of which is barren deserts is bound by Pakistan occupied Kashmir in the west, china in the north and eastern part and Lahul Spiti of Himachal Pardesh in the south east. Leh is located at a distance of 434 Kms from Srinager and 474 Kms from Manali - Himachal.

Leh
From a tourist perspective the major attractions in Leh are its lakes, monasteries and trekking routes however in this part of the world its literally not just the destination but the journey itself that makes the trip worthwhile more so if you are riding a bike on the mud trails connecting one gem to another!

Traversing the high mountain passes in Leh to reach the destinations in Leh with poetic beauty in itself is an experience no one will trade for anything, at least not me!!

In this blog and a few more blogs to come related to Leh and Zanskar we will try to give you information about individual places our personal experiences while in Leh.
